Our Myanmar is using wrong information when adding the missing place on the map. Our team has prepared those, but Google Maps has not verified them. What we want from Google Maps is that we need a Myanmar local guide administrator to check if the information is correct when placing the missing places in our country on the map. How do I apply to become a Regional Guide Manager for my country?
Hello @KyawMyoAung
A warm and friendly welocme to local guides connect forum. I’ll endeavour to present you A Welcome-to-Connect-Card. That’s to educate you briefly about how connect as forum runs. You’ll also notice links to other posts of interest as a local guide. Hope you find the card useful.
What you are talking about is regional leads and that was related to the old map maker. Are you aware that map maker was discontinued in 2017? I think the regional lead thing was during the time of map maker on Google maps. That is out of date and as a result there are no more regional leads in any region. There are newer tools for road edits etc.
For POIs,You can always add the places of interest and Google AI/Admin either approves or reject it depending on the verification and information produced. Maybe you should also read why are my edits rejected or pending? That might help. For roads there is the desktop tool etc.
Hope that helps you
Cheers
Hi @KyawMyoAung , welcome to Connect.
As @SholaIB already told you, this type of role does not exist in Google Maps and in the Local Guides program. But if it were to exist, what requirements do you imagine for this role?
In my opinion the first characteristic should be knowledge of the rules, which instead your contributions demonstrate that you do not have. There are very few reviews that demonstrate personal knowledge of the place. Most are generic, and some have content taken from the web. Many of your photos are in violation of the rules: photos taken from the car, selfies, photos posted in multiple places, redundant photos and especially photos taken from the web.
You are right that in Maps there are many mistakes. The duty of the Local Guides should be to fix them, not to add more wrong or useless information.
Mt personal tip for you is to evaluate your contributions first.
I’ve seen buildings under construction (they shouldn’t be in Maps), photos taken in areas not accessible to the customers, on addition of what explained above.
I think you should consider that, of on the future you want to evaluate what others are adding.
But if there are issues that you want to report please let us know. We will be happy to help you to fix them.
