I see no reason why this picture should be removed. Except that another local guide could have flagged it to eliminate a competitor for views. But that is crazy.
Maybe you can help me understand what could be wrong with this photo. Or could it be that Google gave up having the capacity to keep all pics available all the time?
This is the “By you” tap on Desktop. “Af dig” is Danish and means “By you”.
So maybe we should/can not trust the “By you” tab to show all out pics for that particular place. This would be news to me. And also important for others to know, I think.
The pic now visible under “By you” is more than half a year older than the pic I thought was missing. So this is odd.
Just 10 minutes ago I was looking at a Local Guides’ profile (not mine). Although I could see certain photos under the Photos Contributions tab by this person, these public (?) photos were not visible when browsing the photos of the actual POI on Maps. This was not a case of a business with lots of photos, in fact, in this case, the only few photos visible were the photos by the owner.
This reminds me of another Local Guide reporting missing photos a couple of weeks ago. Let me see if I can still find it.
It could very well be a more widespread issue. The pic in question here was just one of many. We may need more examples to fully understand. I will keep and eye out and make screen shots to document next time I see this.
@MortenCopenhagen
Well, I had to scroll down all the way back to December 17th and almost gave up. Fortunately, my perseverance paid off. Here is the post that I was referring to. The post is by @RiccyB .
This is another clear example confirming the issue I experienced with the Gasoline Grill pic earlier today. @ErmesT , would you mind checking if the pic is publicly visible for you.
I have same experience, Many of my photos disappeared when check the place on the map while those were publicly visible on the map for more than a year or months.
Really don’t know how a suitable photo (which is not copy, privacy issue or even bad angle) should be removed by report and smart system.
Thanks for your support. Would you be able to share/document an instance or two to help us better understand what is going on? The more documented cases the more likely we can figure out what is causing it.
