How can we help to remap Nigeria businesses on the Google maps platform. Some of the businesses in Nigeria are not verified and updated, especially 70% of businesses in the country and they’re not doing anything about it. 60% of it is misleading, so we need to help them get verified and updated.
That’s a good thing you are thinking about. Well-done !!!
Adding the buisness on the maps,Editing the location and other information are within your reach, role and power as a local guide.
That said, As a local guide you have no power as regards claiming businesses on the maps on behalf of the owners. They own the right to do it or may allocate that to someone else if they so wish.
The best you can do is talk to them about it. Let them see the reasons and benefits of claiming their businesses on the maps. That’s a more profitable and productive role of a local guide in that aspect.
Hope that helps, feel free to reach out for more queries.
@CHUKSLAW10 not only in Nigeria - there are a lot of areas where most businesses are unclaimed, leading to incorrect and/or outdated info. The only way to deal with this is unfortunately to correct them one after the other. That is a very long and labour-intensive project of course, but on the other end it will get you to local guide level 10 in no time (as you get 5 points per edit ).
On the topic of data quality in Maps in general, there is the project Local Guides Clean The Map (#LGCTM) that might be of interest to you.
