I need guidance on how to move from recorded Video Verification to Live Video Verification for a Business Profile listing.
The recorded video verification has been rejected twice, both times citing “surrounding area mismatch.”
The business itself is genuinely real and operational — as a Local Guide, I have personally checked and verified all the documents for this listing. The likely reason for the mismatch is that there is no official government signboard installed at the location yet, which may be why the surrounding area isn’t matching Google’s expectations from the video.
My question: How can I request Live Video Verification instead of submitting another recorded video? Is there a specific process or form for this, or does it need to be requested through an existing case?
Would appreciate help from anyone, especially Product Experts or GDOs, who has been through this process.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct form or button to manually switch your verification method to “Live Video Verification.” Google’s automated system decides which verification options are available for each specific business listing.
Since your recorded videos have been rejected twice due to the lack of a signboard and an area mismatch, your best next step is to reach out to Google Business Profile Support directly.
You can open a support ticket through the GBP Help Center. Explain your exact situation to them—that the business is fully operational but currently lacks an official government signboard. I highly recommend attaching alternative proofs of the business to your ticket, such as utility bills, tax documents, or a lease agreement. The support team can manually review these documents and, if necessary, they might initiate a live video call with you to finalize the verification.
Hope this helps you get the listing verified soon!
Please note that this Community forum is reserved for Local Guides. Since your question concerns your business, the Google Business Profile Help Community is the right place to ask.
Thank you so much for the detailed guidance! This really helps. I’ll open a new support ticket through GBP Help Center and attach alternative documents like utility bills and lease agreement as you suggested. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain the process.
Thank you for letting me know! Apologies for posting in the wrong section. I’ll move my question to the Google Business Profile Help Community as suggested.
I’m helping a local business get their Google Business Profile verified, and we’ve run into the “surrounding area mismatch” rejection on video verification a couple of times now.
I understand the video needs to clearly match the Street View/location data Google has on file, but I’d love some practical suggestions from experienced Local Guides on:
What exactly counts as “surrounding area”? Is it immediate neighboring shops/buildings, or a wider radius?
Best way to film it — should I start from a recognizable landmark and walk toward the business, or start at the business and pan outward?
Does including a nearby well-known landmark or street sign help, even if it’s not directly next door?
Timing/lighting tips — does filming during daylight vs. evening make a difference in how clearly Google can match it?
Has anyone successfully resolved this specific rejection reason? What changed in your second attempt that made it work?
Any real experience or step-by-step tips would be really appreciated. Trying to avoid a third failed attempt if possible.
So, kindly, as also suggested by @MortenCopenhagen , address your question to the GBP community.
I also want to inform you that, to keep Connect organised, I’m merging your post on your previous one.
