Recently, Google started deleting posts I’ve made that are older than 3 months (it’s a setting.) However, I didn’t choose this setting. It just started happening. So, I have lost A LOT of Google guides posts, points, status, etc. I did learn how to turn the setting off, and did so, but this didn’t recover anything that was lost.
It took me so long to get to Level 7 and my photos have 3.5 million views!
I would just really like to recover my lost status.
I was well on my way to Level 8 and this is just really irritating.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated!!
Sorry to hear that @DearMedina , but I’m afraid there is no way to recover those lost points.
What you can always do is explore other possibilities to earn points. You can find some inspiration for that by listening to the LetsGuide Podcast - episode 10 is a nice one when it comes to listing different ways to contribute.
That’s a shame… it really makes me feel discouraged and I don’t want to contribute anymore.
It’s not like my reviews and photos take a second… they are well thought out, clear, and detailed.
I really wish there was a workaround for this, especially for those who were unaware of this setting.
Thanks for your reply.
We lose points on two counts, @DearMedina
=> Deleting Maps history. That act deletes the answers to questions. The action is self-inflicted, as we gave more preference to privacy. Nevertheless, that causes a tremendous & irrecoverable loss of points.
Even now, if you do not choose to retain history forever, you will be losing points in future also.
=> When we overlook the Maps user-contributed content policies, then the AI marks the non-conforming reviews & photos as private. If we do not take corrective action, then the system purges the content, again causing loss of points.
Thus, in both cases, we are responsible for the loss.
Your frustration is understandable. However, correcting the course would avoid a repeat of such incidences.
Thanks for your clear explanation @C_T , I didn’t realize there was a setting about Map History retention!
@DearMedina don’t be discouraged Its frustration but I had a look at your profile and you are providing clear and well throughout reviews… this is exactly what Google needs! We need more people like you
