I have devoted a great deal of time adding reviews and photographs to Google Maps, but have become hugely disheartened lately as I have found several of my photographs were removed without any explanation. Then, today I received 3 emails stating that reviews of mine that I had posted over a year ago were being deleted due to violations.
Am I wasting my time here? Who can I speak to about what is happening?
I feel like ditching Google Maps altogether due to being messed about.
Hi, the examples you have picked were pictures taken that do cover different areas, such as a famous landmark posted to itself and also the town it is within. They not what have been removed, actual reviews and ratings I have posted when on holiday are being removed, not duplicate images. .
It is a disgrace and the appeals process is an automated one click process so you have no say in the matter.
As I have already stated I do not have an issue with duplicate images being removed and I have only posted a few anyway. My issue is that reviews and ratings that I posted for places that I have visited on holiday are being removed.
If you are going to respond please read the comments properly.

Well, in fact the two issues (photos and reviews) could be part of the same problem , @Col .
You received three emails because this is part of the new notification system that Google started to roll out recently in several countries, but in fact you have 156 hidden reviews. Are you aware of this?
In fact one of the reason why Google is hiding our reviews is coming from your country, where the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is acting in a strong way against manipulation of ratings.
There is not too much to do other then appealing, as suggested already, but we should at least be able to understand why this is happening, don’t you agree?
Regarding photos, the rules are clear: No photos should be added to more than a single location, and no photos should be added where there isn’t a butto to add them, so these are indeed violations of the program, and I personally would remove them before to ask for the check of my account, @Col
Another appeal won. This was my issue, not duplication of images if you had read my post properly before delving into my profile to try and find fault.
All of my issues have now been resolved - quite rightly. I’m still culling my time wasted on Google Maps though due to the mention of high numbers of “hidden reviews”
