I’m trying to add a missing car park in a local beauty spot - Farley Mount country park. I’ve tried several times, but each time I get “NOT APPLIED” and “Google couldn’t verify your edit”.
It does not appear on the offiical Hampshire County Council website - but that didn’t stop me adding several other missing car parks in the same area so I don’t know what’s wrong in this case.
The missing car park is called “Hawthorns”. It’s easily visible here on google maps satellite view. I included a clear photo of the official sign when I attempted to add the place:
While we may well know that the places that we wish to add or the edits we wish to make are valid, there are various reasons why they are Not Applied and more often than not, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact reason why. A likely scenario is that Google cannot confidently verify our add or edit. Yes, adding more details sometimes does help but still we may get the Not Applied. As Local Guides all we can do is describe the places as accurately as possible and I suggest that it’s best while you are actually there, and of course, at all times, make sure that you comply with the Maps User Contributed Content Policy.
Believe me this has happened to many of us, myself included. So don’t be discouraged. This is what I personally do, I don’t dwell on it or become frustrated. It’s best to just move on and keep guiding. Why waste time on one difficult add or edit and lose time during which you could make a 100 easier ones!
I’m glad to see you already received helpful suggestions from @AdamGT . In addition to what he wrote, I wanted to let you know that you can tag a member when you answer. This way you send a notification and the Local Guide knows that you are talking to them. To do so, you just need to add the symbol @ before their name, like I did with you.
