How can i add lake \ pond in Google Maps? As a person from Kerala, there is lot of ponds and lakes are not added in Google Maps. Many ponds or lakes are now saved as Swimming lake, Fishing pond, Swimming Facility, etc. and also many Temple/Mosque/Church ponds are now categorized to religious destination. I wish to change these wrong information’s. How can i do it?

I seen fishing pond and swimming lake. But couldn’t know how to add ponds inside a religious compund. Till now, there’s ponds in religious compound is marked as religious building (category). I hope @ErmesT have a solution or answer to it.

@Rahul001 It’s not only about Ponds in Religious places, but also other Lakes and Ponds are included in wrong categories now.

I understand the issue. Due to the absence of a dedicated lake/pond category, people are using workarounds. For the Temple, Mosque and Church, there are dedicated categories available on the map. You can correct such a place by suggesting edits.

POI available places that you can add, are “Fishing pond”, “Water works”, “Swimming lake” or a “Historical landmark”.
Local guides can make edits to one specific layer of Maps, the one with the POIs (points of interest - shops, churches, sports fields, etc). Ponds are not on that layer, as they are elements of a different layer (with rivers, parks, etc).
If you find ponds on the POI layer (with a wrong “workaround” category), they should not have been created. If you find mistakes with those, all you can do is use the “submit feedback” feature to inform the Maps team about the problem.

You can’t add any water features on Google Maps by yourself, water or polygon features can be add by Google employees only. Anyway, if the Lake or Pond is visible on Satellite view then you can request to add it on Google Maps; you can request for it on Google Maps Support forum: Google Maps Community
