I found a road in my area that is already visible on Google Maps, but the road name is currently missing. I know the local name of the road and would like to add the correct name to Google Maps.
I would like to know the proper procedure for submitting this type of edit.
Could someone please guide me on:
• How to add a name to an existing unnamed road
• Which option I should select in Google Maps
• Whether I need to provide any proof or supporting documents
• What type of information Google uses to verify the road name
• How long the review process usually takes
• What I should do if my edit is rejected
I want to make sure that I submit the road name correctly and follow all Google Maps and Local Guides guidelines.
Any advice or experience from fellow Local Guides would be greatly appreciated.
What @Rahul001 shared is correct, but in practice this is rarely approved.
It might be easier to reach out to your local authorities like the municipality. If they have a geo data partnership with Google Maps they can make the edit without interference from the spam filters on Maps.
Thirdly, you could find the official map where the correct name is shown and request help in the Google Maps Help Community.
