How beautiful Vancouver was discovered....

:sun_with_face:

In this unprecedented time, maintaining a healthy immunity is in everyone’s mind. So I made a promise to maintain a healthy lifestyle by taking in a fair share of vitamin D from the sun, while enjoying a mild cardio hike up around the West Coast.

As my very first post, I like to introduce you to my hometown, the beautiful city of Vancouver. I have especially picked Lighthouse Park which is located just across from downtown. It is easily accessible by bus #250 which cost you $2.45 CAD, or drive there for ~20 minutes or less. You will stop at Beacon Lane on Marine Drive or let the bus operator know where you are heading to.

Downtown can be seen right across from the park as seen on the right hand side of this picture below. As such there’s many commercial ships idling in this body of water since this is the gateway to the Pacific trade.

The park was very first discovered by Captain George Vancouver who initially named it Point Atkinson. So now you know whom this beautiful city was named after ! For years, the lighthouse has safeguarded marine traffic at the entrance to Burrad Inlet. It was also heavily used as a surveillance point during World War 2.

Lighthouse Park was designated as a National Historic Site in 1994 and in 1995 it became fully automated which had been run for years by live-in keepers.

I love those big rocks. It’s very broad and easy to climb for family. A great place to get some sun and enjoy a nice picnic. Be sure to bring your sunglasses.

This park is very well equipped with public bathrooms, and picnic benches.

There’s various info board scatter throughout the park explaining the local species and facts this place has to offer. I suggest reading them as it really enrich your overall appreciation for this place.

If you ever visit Vancouver, please don’t miss this place !!!

Hi @Ms_Vancity and welcome to Connect,

Thanks for sharing your first post. Vancouver looks amazing, especially this place you’ve showed us. I love nature places and Lighthouse Park looks like a charming spot to visit. Do you often go there? Is there a cafe or a restaurant where you can sit and enjoy the view?

I haven’t been to Canada yet, but I have a few friends there that I can’t wait to make plans to visit. Thanks so much for sharing!
