I would like to share local guides community how updating things and adding places in Maps regarding my local city is important for me.
First of all, using Google Maps helped me (and still) a lot. Because I live in a city (Tunis) with a lot of wonderful and unknown places, second it’s not my city of origin (just living here since 4 years and from Mauritania). So, thanks to Maps I found, and still finding most of my directions, places unknown for me before, the last but not least, shortcuts, when I want to go to a place with a car or by walk better having shortcuts and gain time.
For these reasons it’s important that places in Maps to be up to date and accurate, so that people can find easily and reach where they want to go. Reason why when I started with maps, I started by finding directions as a user, but simultaneously by discovering more Maps I answering questions, leaving comments, adding pictures and correcting / adding places.
Because I don’t want to be thrown in another place than I wanted to go, because I don’t want a Maps user to be thrown elsewhere than where they were looking for. So that, I always try to contribute by updating and adding information.
Being sent elsewhere may be possible in a city like Tunis and it’s neighborhoods when things are not fully added or well up to date.
Reason why among all my contributions in Maps, adding places, pictures and updating adresses are the most exciting for me. Because each place that I updated or added with a picture or an information means for me one person helped to know about and to reach an important place for him/her.
I hope being able to contribute more and more in order to be a positive user.
