Hoshigamori, a place where you can feel the Japanese religion that respects nature. #monthlytopic

In Japan, religion has long been a way of honoring and cooperating with nature, and here are some places that make you feel that.

Where I live in Shikoku, there is an event HENRO called the pilgrimage to 88 temples. One of them is the 60th temple, Yokomine Temple, and there is a place to worship Mt. Ishizuchi near the temple.

To get here, you will need to walk for several hours on a mountain path. The path is steep and difficult to follow and the silence around you can make you feel alone. But you can feel nature and look at yourself.

At the top of the mountain, there is an open space with a lot of trees. There is a small torii gate. This is Hoshigamori.

This small torii is not a gate to pass through, but a place to worship from afar at the sight of Mt.Ishizuchi in front of it. It is a simple monument, but it creates a very sacred atmosphere. You can feel Japanese religion here.

@YsMoriMori The title photo is great, it really makes us feel the sacred silence and think about life.

But other photos of stones seem to be not so ordered and harmonic (excuse me if I say something stupid now). What do these stones mean (except the steps)?

@OlgaKlimchik Thank you comment!

The road to the destination is not well maintained so as not to damage nature. However, we have placed stones so as not to get lost. It looks messy at first glance, but it is a very important stone as a signpost when walking on a mountain path. There are many such roads in Shikoku. In addition, I would like to introduce it on another occasion.

@YsMoriMori Thank you for your explanation.

I didn’t tell about the mess, only about different styles. The place at the first photo looks majestic, while other stone photos are different.
