Honestly I did not even realise there are various levels on Google local guides program. It all started when I was planning a road trip, the road trip as a sole traveller seemed like a nice idea however since it was the first time I was a bit skeptical too. I used to stop at places randomly and find coffee shops, petrol stations, picnic spots etc. I wanted to document the places visited and accidentally stumbled upon google reviews. It was then I realised anyone could add a review and no qualifications were required. I have made best efforts to keep the review in the positive frame and being honest about a place of visit. Soon it occured that adding photos to the reviews were helping the community better and few of the photos received increased number of views. Reports from google timelines boosted my confidence to continue doing as it was helping the community, business and more importantly I was able to keep a track of places visited. Recently received an email from Google about the local guides connect and was pleasantly surprised that I have reached a level that now qualifies to send an application! As said at the very beginning, I did not even think about these things when I was contributing to the stories. I will continue to contribute to honest reviews that makes a difference and promotes a place or business where appropriate.
