Honest review removed

Hello. I usually leave good reviews for places, and go out of my way to do so, but sometimes I have an experience bad enough that I need to share as well.

I recently left a 1-star review review for a business that lied to me in order to increase their prices. Eventually, the post seems to have been shadow-banned - I can only see it from my account, not if I look up the business while logged out.

I had only posted an honest accounting of my experience, which did including quoting the names they called me (which were not slurs or anything that I would consider ‘bad words’). I am wondering if the word “scum” (again - quoting their words to me) would have been enough for them to get my review flagged for removal, or might it have been something else?

I find it deeply concerning that a company can this easily get negative reviews removed from their page, especially seeing as they only have ONE negative review currently - now I understand what happened to the others.

Hello @GKalavik ,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to Connect.

Please keep in mind that content that violates our policies can be removed from Maps listings. This may be as a result of our filters or reported by the business owner.

Please note that if your content is reported by the business, Google doesn’t get involved when merchants and customers disagree about facts, since there’s no reliable way to discern who’s right about a particular customer experience.

Here in the Flag and fix inappropriate content you may find more information about this.

To keep Connect organized, I am going to relabel your post to the How-tos section of Connect, as this is the place where you may ask questions, share tips and feedback.

Yes, I am already aware of all of that information, and I do not know what would have constituted as violating the policies, as nothing I wrote should have violated any of the policies I read and checked before and after posting.

I just noticed another one of my reviews got removed, but I do not understand why.

These are the contents of another review Google seems to have removed:

“Decent bagels, nothing exceptional. Cook is casually racist against black people. He thinks since I’m white I don’t mind his comments about black people being thieves.”

Google supports racism, eh? Crazy.
