Pua Pitha (in Bengali: পোয়া পিঠা) is a one kind of popular Snacks food in Bangladesh. It is also known as Teler Pitha (in Bengali: তেলের পিঠা) in different part of our country but in my city Mymensingh we mostly called it Pua Pitha (পোয়া পিঠা). We may have this snacks food whole the years but especially during the winter we have this snacks food a lot. In our country winter is a season for enjoying different types of traditional snacks foods.
Although this is a homemade food but now a days we can buy this pitha from confectionaries or Pitha Shops. There are many Pitha shops available everywhere in the city places. We can also buy from street shops in the village markets in the village areas.
The Ingredients: the main ingredients are Rice Flour, Brown Sugar (in Bengali: Ghur/ গুড়) is preferable, White Sugar also used, Salt, Water and Cooking Oil, Coconut (sometimes it used but not mandatory), Date Juice (sometimes we used Date Juice instead of the Sugar for a nice flavour).
The Process: a) add some fresh normal water in a bowl and add some sugar and a small amount of Date Juice (for nice flavour) mix them using a spoon perfectly.
b) Then add Rice Flour and a bit Salt (as need) and mix using a spoon perfectly, so that no bubbles in it.
c) In the mean time add some cooking oil on the pan and heated firmly, when the oil start boiling then drop a small amount of mixture rice flour using a spoon.
d) It may take couple of minutes to bake the Pitha/ Snacks food and remove the Pitha from the hot oil when it become a bit brown colour and baked perfectly.
