Homemade Meal for my Wife-Chicken Lasagna

After staying away from cooking for a period of time, I decided to cook something special for my wife. My wife was craving for some Italian food, So I decided to cook "Chicken Lasagna" for her. I will share with you all a simple recipe to prepare this delicious Italian delicacy.

Ingredients
2 Medium size onion-Finely chopped
2 large Tomatoes-Finely diced

Cooking oil-1/2 cup
Chicken mince-1KG

Cheddar cheese-250 grams
Ginger Garlic Paste-1 Tablespoon

Garam masala-1 Tablespoon
Curry masala-1 Tablespoon
salt to taste
Dried Fenugreek-1 Tablespoon
Pasta sauce-500 grams (Heinz)

Garlic Sauce-250 grams (Heinz)

Curry Ketchup-100 grams
lasagna sheets-12 (I used the Perfetto brand)

Oregano-1 Tablespoon

Procedure for the Lasagna Sauce Preparation:

  • In a large pan add half-cup cooking oil and keep the flame at medium and now add chopped onion to the pan.
  • Fry the onion till the color changes to golden brown (~5-8 minutes at medium flame). Once the color of onion changes to golden brown add in the diced tomatoes and cook it for at least 5 minutes. Make sure you stir continuously to avoid the onion sticking to the pan.
  • Add Ginger garlic paste to the Onion-Tomato mixture and cook for another 5 minutes. After that add one small cup of water to prevent the curry from sticking to the surface of the pan.
  • Now add the curry masala along with the salt and give it a good stir for an additional 5-10 minutes till the mixture is sufficiently cooked.
  • Add the chicken mince to the mixture and cook it for an additional 15-20 minutes till all the curry is absorbed by the the small chunks of chicken.
  • Add the Garam masala and dried Fenugreek on the surface and give it a good mix and then add the pasta sauce, garlic sauce and curry ketchup and give it a good stir and then set it aside.

Preparation of Lasagna sheets:

  • In a separate bowl heat the water by adding some salt to it and once the water starts to boil add the lasagna sheets to it and keep it in the boil water till they are half cooked.

Procedure for Layering:

  • Grease the surface of a rectangular baking pan with some butter and then add a layer of Lasagna sauce to it.
  • Now place the half cooked lasagna sheets on the surface of the Lasagna sauce (I used 3 sheets/layer). Again add the Lasagna sauce on the surface of the sheets along with a layer of cheddar cheese.
  • I applied 3 layers of Lasagna sheets, cheddar cheese and Lasagna sauce for my dish.

Final Baking Step:

  • Once the layering is finished, sprinkle the oregano on the surface of the baking pan.
  • Now bake the pan on a preheated oven set at 170C for 20-25 minutes, till the cheese at the surface turns to golden brown color.
  • Once the baking is finished, cut the lasagna in square shape and serve it hot.

Dear @fasi6083 Believe it or not, this dish makes me hungry this night and I am sure I will not be able to sleep well tonight  . Thanks for sharing this nice post though it seems hard for me to make. The mysterious thing of this dish, I found, it seems made with eggs but in reality no EGGS used at all. Strange. Regards.

Thanks for such a nice comment @MukulR Yes you are correct, it’s a time consuming task to prepare this Italian dish. I think the golden brown exterior surface causes the illusion of usage of eggs in this dish. The sweet color is due to the melting of cheddar cheese on the Lasagna sheet.
