Holi in Vrindavan is one of the main festivals which is celebrated in Vrindavan.
We covered a lot of sights to get the best vibe of Vrindavan Holi.
Let me take you on a tour along with my words:
So there are different types of Holi which is celebrated in Mathura & Vrindavan.
LathMarr Holi: According to the legends, the tradition of Lathmar Holi began when Lord Krishna went to the neighbouring village of Barsana to colour his beloved Radha and other Gopis. In return, the women beat him playfully with sticks.
You can experience lathmar Holi at Barsana, and at Nandgaon where you’ll see Women hitting men with sticks and men protecting themselves with Shield.
Phoolo ki Holi(Holi of Flowers) : Next thing you would love to experience is people playing holi with flowers.
They shower each other with flowers like roses and sunflower and gainda petals. It is so Beautiful to experience that. You’ll get that sight in the Video.
Holi with colours and water: A riot of colours is what you see at the Banke-Bihari temple where temple priests, also called Goswamis, sprinkle buckets of colours on the devotees. Water guns, dry and wet colours are smeared on everybody inside the temple complex while devotional music or bhajans are played in the background. You see everyone dancing in unison irrespective of the caste, creed, religion, and colour
Widows in India used to wear white clothes and never play with colours, but not anymore! In 2013, the widows of Pagal Baba Widow Ashram broke this convention. Now, Widows play Holi at the Gopinath Temple every year. They smear colours on each other’s faces and dance to the tunes of traditional Holi songs.
The Gulal-Kund in Braj is also another interesting place to celebrate Vrindavan Holi. It is a small lake near the Govardhan hill. Local people act in Krishna-Lila drama and re-enact the scenes of Holi for the pilgrims.
I hope you liked the tour.
