Hoe voeg ik een locatie toe met een categorie die niet in de lijst staat? Met de lijst bedoel ik “Accomodatie” tot en met “Nachtclub”. Er zijn veel locaties met een andere categorie. Hoe zorg je dat je die kan toevoegen, zoals een “Toeristische attractie”, een “Natuurreservaat” en noem maar op.

While selecting a category, you can try for the following.
See what category is there for similar existing places.
However, some categories also become extinct over a period & may not be available for new entries.
Else, you can start typing a possible category slowly. A list will appear. Scroll down that to select the right one.
Nevertheless, category selection has to be accurate as some characteristics of a POI depend upon the category.
However, you can’t select a category which is not available in the list. If you feel a place deserves to be classified in a new category, you need creating a request in the idea exchange.
Nevertheless, regarding your specific query, the following choices available (In English) for an accommodation.
Group accomodation
Apartment Building
Apartment Complex
Furnished apartment building
Holiday apartment
Housing complex
Public housing
Sheltered housing
You can select the most appropriate one
Also Night club exists as a exclusive category.

Hi @C_T the question was not about accomodation and nightclub, but nature preserve and tourist attraction
Hi @Marcel_Zweers you have to deal with the existing categories and you’ll learn to use them creatively
the linked list is unofficial afaik [= hello to the puritans =] So there is nature preserve and tourist attraction, also wildlife refuge and scenic spot, you can select the Dutch version in a dropdown list. Then… the next problem is the bad translation of the English expressions, I opened a topic regarding this. so… use this wisdom: the one who’s searching will be findinghandy tool in the list: if you click onto a category name, you get related ones.
Finally, there is no need to chose a category when adding a new place, afaik.
Hallo @Marcel_Zweers ik had ooit exact dezelfde vraag, en ben er toen achter gekomen dat dit lijstje met categorieën slechts een paar voorbeelden zijn, niet de volledige lijst. Door gewoon in dat categorie-veld tekst te tikken, komen alle andere opties tevoorschijn.

@makky category is a mandatory field when adding a place to Maps. Hence the fact that it often leads to frustration from so many local guides
