Welcome to Connect Forum, @Vhing . Although I am based in Taiwan at the moment, I will go back home from time to time.

If you have any meet-up plans, do let us know. @iyudhi how is your Asia tour? Will you stop by Hong Kong?

@YK1001 No Asia tour haha. But I will be in Hong Kong starting on the 24th of Dec, and I’m planning to meet two other Hong Long Local Guides that were also attending this year’s Local Guides Summit @AliC and @JulianaKWK on the 26th for dinner and/or snacks.

I didn’t create an event page (it’s supposed to be just a casual gathering), but here’s a post I made on the Hong Kong Local Guides community:

You can comment there or in this post if you’re interested in joining us, so we know who’s coming!

Thank you for tagging me, @iyudhi .

I will be staying in Taipei this year, and I am looking forward to see your meet-up recap!

For both X’mas Eve and New Year’s Eve, MTR will provide 24-hours non-stop service.

You can check for the frequency here:

Ohh thanks for the MTR info @YK1001 that’s actually what I need. In this case I’m more flexible planning what I want to do for New Year’s eve

Dec 28, the MTR network should expand service to Ocean Park and to Ap Lei Chau.

It is a driverless line. Just in case you are planning going to Ocean Park.

Hi Ivan,

HK will have some countdown activities, you will find crowds at Lan Kwai Fong, Tsimshatsui, Causeway and the Peak.

I don’t prefer the Peak, due to the traffic and heavy crowd there. (I did have a poor experience of doing countdown there, I waited at the bus terminal for almost 3 hrs to get down the hill). You may also take a look at this link, HK will have firework countdown activities along the Harbour and it is spectacular, you can consider visiting the Avenues of Star, Tsimshatsui for countdown: http://www.hong-kong-traveller.com/hong-kong-new-year.html#.WGXcwVV94dU . You may also consider taking a visit to 1881 Heritage (http://www.1881heritage.com/about.php?lang=en) / taking pictures at the Harbour City (http://www.harbourcity.com.hk/images/events/Christmas%20Together_poster.jpg) before the count-down. If you prefer to stay away from the crowd and do the countdown, you can have it at those restaurants with harbour view, my favourite one is : https://www.openrice.com/en/hongkong/r-nanhai-no-1-tsim-sha-tsui-guangdong-dim-sum-r40671/photos, if budget allows, OZONE is also great https://www.openrice.com/en/hongkong/r-ozone-tsim-sha-tsui-japanese-r50837

Meanwhile, HK is having a Brand and Products Expo at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, you may consider visiting it during your stay in HK. It’s an annual event which showcases local products and brands, as it’s rather local, I don’t think the local guide book would mention it. More info: http://hkbpe.com.hk/web/index.php You can spend an afternoon / a night at the exhibition, you will find lots of products and local food stalls around.

Hope the info helps.
