History of Durban

The city of Durban has been my home for a long time. My city has many monunents commemorating differnt occassions. I visited a monument which was also a land mark. The Boundary of the Borough of Durban from 1854 to 1932 formed the western boundary. The old boundary sits on a hill at present day Berea. The monument sits between two busy road networks of our city. As cars drive by,people passing by and businesses plying their trade,i wonder how this landmark shaped the present day Durban. The land mark is run down and neglected. To the present day resident, the land mark may have no bearing,to the residents of 1850’s these were the foundations of the present day Durban. Our history is our history.
