I came hiking to Omine pond, in Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
This was a rather non-busy hiking trail (I went on a Saturday and only saw one hiker). The start of the hiking trail from Kamimoku station was a bit confusing, so I suggest to bring a proper map application on your phone. The hike itself was medium level, it was nice to walk along the river, listening to its sound.
There were lots of insects and mosquitos in the early summer, please bring insect repellent and anti-water hiking shoes since the trail gets wet. The pond itself was beautiful. If you like hiking trail that are not mainstream, maybe you can consider coming to this pond.
This looks like a delightful walk @Yoshi_Mirai thank you for sharing it. A proper Maps app would be Google Maps right? On a serious note, yes your advice is sound, Maps does not really support the hiker terribly well and there are better dedicated options out there to help you plan and execute your walks with dedicated hike functionality.
A nice post ,thank you for sharing it with us. I like how you gave a detailed Information on this hiking trail. Hope you enjoyed your hiking? How often do you go hiking?
Japan has a lot of narrow hiking trails and I hope my contribution helps visitors when they want to do similar hikes. Some japanese like me are obsessed with mountain hiking and we have a lot of dedicated app that guides you through difficult trails.
Hiking to a pond in Japan sounds like such a peaceful adventure! I’ve done a few hikes there, and the scenery is fantastic. The trails are usually well-maintained, and the views can be breathtaking.
