Devil’s Peak is part of the mountainous backdrop of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. It stands 1,000 metres (3,281 ft) high, less than Table Mountain’s 1,087 metres (3,566 ft). The city settlement was founded on the shore below the mountain. It is located in Western Cape Province, South Africa on the Coordinates 33°57′17.11″S 18°26′21.35″E.
The route to the peak is Hike, One can reach the saddle from three routes, ranging from moderate to difficult. Ascend from Tafelberg Road on the city side, up Newlands Ravine from Newlands Forest, or the upper contour path from Mowbray Ridge and Minor. The difficulty of Tafelberg Road is moderate, follow by the Newland Ravine then that of Mowbray Ridge is more difficult.
The best period of the year to hike this mountain is the summer, between September and April. It is advisable to bring along the following Hat, Sunglasses, Hiking Shoes, Fruits, Snack, Water and Drinks. Also the lightest camera possible. I advised against bring children younger than 12 years old.
The best time to start hiking is very early in morning before the sun comes out. It takes an average of about 4 hours to get to the Devil’s Peak, this includes a half hour break at the top. On October 27, 2018. I embarked on this beautiful experience of hiking the Devil’s Peak part of Table Mountain. It was a great adventure.
