I wanted to take my family on an outside adventure somewhere high up. We were searching for a view and also to get a great sunset. Johnathan Dickinson State Park has just the spot a lookout tower. Easy as pie! Park your vehicle at the ranger station front gate office of Johnathan Dickinson Flirida State Park and enter by foot headed north. I think the fee is a couple bucks per person and the lookout tower is probably close to a mile round-trip. When you arrive hopefully there aren’t many other groups there because it is not a big structure. We happened to reach the top all to ourselves hearing a train whistle blowing. I rushed up to catch the last glimpse of our sun as it set in the west and the train pulling at least 20 carriages heading South. The Florida forest glistened with snow white patches of sand interrupting the shades of green I saw. We took the usual portrait journey photos but I did get a short video clip of that train moments making my sunset adventure complete. If your not up for the hike there is plenty of parking but you will pay a little more. If it is in the summer months you will have to hurry because once the sun sets it may get dark and you will have to use your cell phone light. No streetlights! The wildlife likes it this way and so do I, more stars and fireflies if your lucky.
