Hiding Treasures for my Friends - the most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide

Do you remember the times from your childhood when you were dreaming of setting out for a treasure hunt and finding a chest filled with gold? Or just digging out an ancient vase worth billions of dollars… Well, I do. And I do remember that for me these dreams were a great source of happiness and inspiration. So I decided to relive this feeling as a Local Guide.

The year 2018, September 5. I and my friend Lena are wading through the sands of Curonian spit. It is almost sunset time but we still have to finish an important business - hide a treasure. The treasure is a letter for our friends safely sealed in a small envelope:

Plus there is a symbolic amount of money inside to raise the stakes.

We hungrily look around, searching for a perfect hiding place.

  • There is something on the horizon! Take a look!

Apparently there are remainings of a pier or house supports. Whatever it is, it’s ideal for our goal.

I climb up the hill to reach the supports made of concrete and red brick, pierced by old rusty bars. Here it is. Here the treasured envelope will be waiting for its new master:

We write down the exact coordinates of the place and take the photos so that our friends could later find it:

Without any doubt that was a thrilling adventure for us. As far as I know, the treasure is still there, so there is a chance for you to become this lucky pirate who will get our priceless letter and loads of money.

If you are up for it here are the exact coordinates: 54.9740622, 20.5094177

Why did I decide to write a post on this childish topic?

As soon as we become adults - serious and busy people with loans and stuff, many of us forget why it is good to take off the armors of seriousness from time to time and simply be playful.

I hope that this post reminded you about your childhood sources of happiness ? Be playful, be creative and keep seeing the world with fresh eyes.

I’ve done 5 hides by now - in Russia, Italy, Spain, Ukraine and Belgium. At the moment this activity is on hold for the obvious reason )
