شكرا جزيلا على هذه التوضيحات القيمة
Thank you and indeed a great article to read
Very informative! I would also like to understand what is happening if you indeed violated a policy without knowing it. Is there a way out?
Unfortunately I don’t think there is any way out, few months before the AI would auto-block all my Google Maps reviews from being posted publicly and I could contest it, in 95% of the time the review were put back in place by Human moderators, but since 3 weeks ago, not only it auto-shadowbans my reviews (the AI) but also everytime I contest the decision I get result: canceled (contestation canceled by AI). I even tried to talk with the Google director in Bucharest, Romania, and he told me that unfortunately this is the new policy of Google and they can’t do anything about it, they told me that secret AI algorithms are in place and they cannot change them, they told me that I can sue Google for this if I want but it would be very expensive and time consuming and even if I win, the restrictions will be lifted temporarily but after a certain period the AI can once again auto-shadowban my reviews so unfortunately I think all is lost for us as humanity, like Disney previously predicted, the #cancel culture is already here, so one after the other all high-level Google Map reviewers will be outcasted by AI and shadowbanned one by one so they will be forced to abandon writing reviews on Maps unless they either create a new account or just prefer to keep the reviews for themselves. But you don’t have to believe me, you can read in forums here and in other platforms and see that thousands more high-level Maps reviewers are saying the same thing as me.
Hello @MortenCopenhagen
I’ve got an issue with my first review - it is not published in public, only I can see it
It is a service for searching and checking used cars
I am adding screenshots with my review (it is translated by google chrome, original language is different)
Also, I’ve tried to post the review without media files - no result
I really want to share my experience and at least know why my review is hidden
You might not be aware that the recommended length of a review is one paragraph. Yours is considerably longer.
When I read Maps reviews I think the authors should take the time to distill the text into something that can be read quickly.
The longer your text is the hight the risk that the spam filter gets triggered.
Furthermore, we earlier recommended to avoid prices as they soon expire and some spammers might try to sell something → more risk of being caught by the spamfilter.
Best of luck
Your photos looks like they don’t really show the place. I know you tried to remove them.
Thanks for answer. I will try to edit.
Is there way to know status of the review? Like “filtered as spam”, “pending for moderation”, etc.
In the EU, Google is mandated to notify users when a review is taken down and provide an option to appeal the removal. This is not the case in other regions.
You can check by comparing the number of reviews attributed to your profile when logged in and from incognito mode. Or you can check under the places to see if your review is visible or not. So honestly, there is no easy way to check and identify which reviews were taken down.
Yeah, it is easy to check is my review public or not, it is my first review. But when my review is visible only for me I have no idea whether it is on moderation (or some checks) and I need just wait or it is hidden forever and I need to update the review
Many spammers post very few reviews. So the spamfilter is often more critical towards “young” contributors.
Feel free to share your review text below for a check, or continue making authentic reviews, and they are likely to start showing up.
I’m thinking maybe I should just wait. Today I updated my review, made it a bit shorter but it is definitely not small, with details which it should be good to share.
Before today’s update I’ve been waiting for a week+. Some people say that delay was 1-2 week before publishing.
Here is my review translated by the google (original language is ukrainian)
“ I used the “Turnkey Selection” service
We searched for almost 6 months, it’s just a fact, it’s not a minus for me. We looked at about 8 options. Of the pluses: 24/7 communication and quick inspections
The following problems were voiced about the car:
- oil leakage at the junction of the box with the engine. They said that this is a standard sore and the price is $300-400, but check again
- defects on both armrests, if desired for re-stitching, up to $100
- some moldings above the wheels are not in the gaps, lag behind the body
They added: - “Probably the best one we looked at. From our side, we recommend buying.” - here I immediately trusted and agreed that we would pick it up.
Defects that were not told about and I saw immediately after the purchase:
- three dents in the middle of the door (from the inside from the amplifier). One craftsman estimated it at $150 because they are outside.
- the front bumper is painted very poorly, all in dips and “shagreen”, visible from 3 meters or more - for repainting, $200-300
- the windshield is completely chipped with 1-4mm chips, problematic viewing in certain light, and a 3cm chipped star in the middle - for replacement $600-700 non-Chinese
- a dent on the rear bumper near the wing
From the smallest: many deep chips on the hood more than 4mm (I don’t count smaller ones) - for local repair or repainting, a dent on the hood, a deep scratch on 7cm of the chrome molding of the driver’s door above the handle, two chips in the middle of the front passenger door window (4mm±), minor chips on the panorama, fake radars on the bumper
The rest of the scratches and small dents can be considered the norm for a non-new car
Car non-budget, the price in the ad is $34.5k, bargaining is $800, the seller cost it up to $30k, mileage is 84k
I definitely recommend that you finally inspect the external condition of the car yourself. I didn’t think it was necessary.
We agreed that we would issue it through the action.
The seller was also fixing the rear bumper, I asked twice to evaluate it when re-issuing, they said ok. In fact, there was no support. Without warning, they said that the expert was busy. I don’t understand why we didn’t make the purchase on any other day, well, not critical. We dealt with the action together with the seller for a long time, it was the first time we did it.
The most important thing about the oil leak: it keeps flowing, the protection is all in oil, there are traces in the parking spaces. They didn’t warn about the complexity of the repair. You have to completely remove the engine along with the gearbox. The price for working with materials is about $1k. It’s a “pleasure” to buy a car for 33.7k and immediately drive it to the service station many times and hear that you need to remove the box with the engine.
It was planned to invest up to $500, in reality $2k+ (with a symbolic bargain) and a lot of time, which is not available on weekdays.”
There is no need to wait. Check immediately after editing your text. If the spamfilter is not triggered it will go public right away.
Oh, if the place is inside Ukraine the problem could be the war. Please see

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, it was not allowed to leave reviews at all, but now it is allowed and I see a lot of new review including to the company where I want to leave one.
I’ve just read also all comments and in the lasts one user said “My first edits are taking very long to be approved, but I hope that will improve over time.”. But do not see what the country or edits.
