Hidden hiking-treasures right in front of you (Sagensteintour)

Here in Austria there are some wonderful places, some of them are fairly hidden. The locals don’t really acknowledge them. I’ll show you one of my favorite places. It’s a little hiking-trail near my hometown Wilhelmsburg. You can come here by Train or by biking near the river Traisen. Here is a picture of the trainstation, you see a typical small town.

As you go into the “Kreisbachtal” you see more nature, and less buildings. The fun fact, you would never go in this direction, because the street has a dead end.

After a few kilometers you see nothing but green nature.

We are here on the top of a little hill. It is just half an hour bikeride from the town center. If you start at the capital city of lower Austria, St. Pölten, it takes you just one and a half hour by bike. Look at this amazing landscape. Most of the locals don’t even know about this hideouts, they think you have to travel at least 100 km to get out in the nature. I really like to share this pictures, more people should know about the hidden treasures right in front of them.

Back you go through some trails through the woods.

If you’re hungry of course there is a little restaurant, right beneath the hilltop. It’s called Rudis (Ochsenburgerhütte).

You can enjoy your goulash in the sun while you enjoy the view.

If you ever come to Austria, then search for hidden treasures like this one.
