Hidden Gems in My City

Hi Local Guides! :man_raising_hand:

I’m Snehil from Junagadh, Gujarat—a city famous for Girnar Hills, lions of Sasan Gir, and ancient temples. While many visitors come here for Girnar’s spirituality or wildlife, there are several hidden gems that even locals often overlook. Let me take you on a short tour of underrated spots in Junagadh that are definitely worth your time.

:one: willingdon dam

Located at the base of Girnar, this peaceful dam is a great escape from the crowds. Best visited during monsoon, it offers stunning views, calm waters, and greenery all around. Not many tourists know about it, making it a perfect picnic spot.

:two: *navghan kuvo

(Stepwell)*

An ancient stepwell inside Uparkot Fort, carved deep into rock. It’s a hidden marvel of architecture and history. Most people visit the fort but miss this underground wonder!

:compass: Don’t forget a flashlight for better visibility!

:three: Adi-Kadi Vav

Another lesser-known stepwell near Navghan Kuvo. It has no pillars, just steps carved into rock. According to legend, it was built overnight by spirits!

:four: Datar Hill (Pir Datar Shah Dargah)

A spiritual hill opposite Girnar, it’s a mix of Hindu-Muslim faith. A peaceful trek, especially during early mornings, and fewer crowds than Girnar.

:round_pushpin:Starts near Damodar Kund
:light_bulb: Shoes not allowed beyond certain point—be respectful.

:five: Shrikhar Jain Tirth

Often skipped by mainstream tourists, this beautifully maintained Jain temple complex near Girnar offers spiritual peace, silence, and stunning marble work.

:megaphone: Why These Gems Matter

Tourism in Junagadh is often centered around Girnar ropeway or Sasan Gir. But there’s so much more waiting to be explored. As a Local Guide, I feel it’s my responsibility to help travelers experience the soul of Junagadh, not just the surface.

Have you been to Junagadh or found a hidden spot in your city? Share your secret locations in the comments! Let’s build a guidebook of untouched wonders together. :round_pushpin::speech_balloon:

Thanks for sharing this excellent list @our_girnar
I like the spirit of introducing the hidden gems of our hometown to the world.
But I am afraid they will remain hidden unless you also include the Google Maps link to those places. A few photos will help too.
