Heritage Walk in Pune’s Core

Hello Punekars! I’ve traveled and explored a lot of the city’s core, but often think about how our heritage is lost and neglected among other modern developments. Even on Google Maps, there aren’t many reviews and decent photos/information about these heritage monuments- hence the meet-up! 1) We’ll be meeting at Shaniwar Wada at 9:00 am (that’s when it opens), we’ll walk around taking some pictures, visit the Heritage Shop- Warsaa, in the premises and write reviews (only 2 reviews as of now). Such small businesses need to be recognized more. 2) We will then walk down to Tambat Haud-one of the oldest water cistern and recently renovated. (again fewer reviews and photos on Google Maps right now). 3) Walk down the Tambat Ali and photograph the traditional coppersmith businesses in this heritage alley. 4)Visit the Sardar Shitole Wada- again has historical significance. Note (Places 3, 4, and 5) are very close to each other. 5) Visit the Kasba Ganpati Temple (one of the most ancient temples in Pune). Take a breather here- have breakfast at a local restaurant. 6) Visit the Lal Mahal. 7) Review the newly renovated Nana Wada and the dilapidated Nana Haud (water cistern) in front of it .8) Visit Dagdusheth Temple (again an iconic and famous landmark). 9) Belbag Temple- has beautiful wooden architecture (fewer reviews and photos as of now). 10) Finish the walk at the Ram Mandir. As it will be hot, make sure you wear caps/scarves and carry water bottles.

@shreyasee it’s a missing for me that I couldn’t make it on time… I was late I tried to chase your trail Shaniwar wada, Nana wada, Dagdusheth temple, and I tried waiting sometime in Belbaag Vishnu temple and came to know it is a private temple and was asked to delete the photos which I uploaded to Google today … Now I will try to cover some places nearby and move… Hope you had a good meet up…
