Heritage of Her: Fatehpuri Maszid, Chandani Chauk, Delhi

:sparkles: Masjid Fatehpuri – A Timeless Legacy of Begum Fatehpuri :sparkles:

Built in 1650 by Fatehpuri Mahal Begum, Masjid Fatehpuri stands as a magnificent symbol of Mughal architecture in the heart of Old Delhi. Crafted from red sandstone, this architectural marvel has silently witnessed centuries of history, from the Mughal era to the present day.

With towering minarets, intricate arches, and a majestic prayer hall, the mosque remains a center of faith and cultural heritage. It boasts three grand gates, one directly facing the Red Fort at Chandni Chowk (See Below).

Even today, the mosque comes alive during Eid celebrations, uniting people in faith and tradition.

About Fatehpuri Mahal Begaum

There is no specific information about her early life. She was the fifth wife of Shah Jahan. She was very close to Shah Jahan during his house arrest or his last days. Her tomb is located inside the Taj Mahal complex. She also built a Mosque outside the Taj Complex.

Excellent photos of the Fatehpuri Masjid @K.K.Sharma Ji
Looking at the photos, I felt like traveling in time.
I visited this area often, though I missed the amazing sun dials.

Here’s my post about the visit and the photos:

Beautiful photos of a truly historical monument in Delhi. The Fatehpuri Masjid often gets overlooked by the more popular Sunehri Masjid or the grand Jama Masjid, but this place has its own charm and heritage. It truly depicts the powers many wives of the Mughal Emperors had in their era. Thank you for sharing @K.K.Sharma ji

On your next visit to Delhi, we’ll take you on a Heritage Walk in Chandni Chowk and show you both the Sun Dial and Moon Dial. However, I believe both are from the present era. @TusharSuradkar
