This is continuation of an unforgettable trip that I went to, last year. You can read the first part of this journey, which is all about an unforgettable experience during a trek to Valley of Flowers
About
Hemkund Sahib (aka Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji) is a Sikh pilgrimage, located in the Nanda Devi National Park, Uttarakhand. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.
Route
One needs to trek around 5.5 miles from Gangaria, which is the same base camp as Valley of Flowers. Since, it’s a pilgrimage, you can easily find a pony ride. The trek path is well maintained and can be covered relatively easy. The scenic beauty of the route is just amazing.
The holy place
The location of this holy is enough to blow your mind let alone a true feeling of inner peace and calming silence. Similar to all other Sikh worship place, one can always find hot tea and khichdi (a dish made from rice and lentils) in langar (a community kitchen where food is served free to all).
The place also has a glacial lake which is surrounded by seven mountain peaks, which is mesmerizing in itself. Hemkund is inaccessible from October through April because of snowbound paths and glaciers.
Please feel free if anyone needs more information about the place, travel, or stay.
