Helping Street Vendors by Becoming Local Guides

Street vendors in Indonesia are very unique. They are usually in places on the edge of the road, sometimes not in permanent buildings. Some of them set up tents, used carts or used tables by putting food on it. Street vendors are very numerous and varied. Some are open at mealtimes, some are open in the early hours of the morning until only 3 hours open. This makes me feel the need to try to help street vendors. By using google maps, I can add hours of work and their unique location. For example, street vendors who sell cakwe food, which is a type of food that is only open less than 4 hours a day. The opening hours are only 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. The number of street vendors is very much in Indonesia. This is what makes informal workers continue to increase. When I search through google street view, I usually don’t find street vendors open. Therefore I am very excited to add it to Google Maps. By becoming a local guide, I can continue to contribute to adding new places like street vendors.

I usually write detailed information about small businesses, such as street vendors. I usually write down food menus, take photos of food and dining conditions. In addition, I also check the latest information somewhere. Whether the place is closed or still open. If it’s still open I will submit an edit location and write it still open. I will also provide honest information. As a local guides, I often find places with different locations, so I will edit them and justify them. With the latest information, buyers will feel more confident to come. Access to a disability, vegetarian menus to additional questions about the business will usually be answered. It is very important to match the place to match the interests of visitors. Buyer usually does a little research before visiting the location. For that information on google maps greatly affects visitors to visit or not.
