Helping someone else is helping yourself!

I love Google maps and constantly refer to it whenever I make plans to visit a place which is new to me or which is far away. When I discovered that I can contribute to maps by way of adding information, editing information and making it more useful I was elated! Finally I found something where I can share information what I know and help others.

I derive immense pleasure by helping others…and I truly believe that by helping others, we are actually helping ourselves. We are feeding our soul with goodness, a sense of happiness which comes when you see that you were useful to someone. I get this feeling when I make contributions to Google Maps. Be it adding photos or editing store open/close timings. Keeping information up-to-date and relevant is my passion and I religiously do it. In fact based on information provided by google maps I visited a place after travelling several kilometers. When I went to that place, I was told that they have moved and it has been 6 months since it happened. I immediately went back and edited the place on maps so that others don’t suffer like me.

I also feel that by adding reviews or photos, I indirectly help local enterprises find customers and improve their business. This is one small way for me to help local business thrive and contribute to community. I want to thank Google for enabling this and providing the platform. It is fun doing this and I would like to encourage other users to also contribute. I want them to discover the joy of sharing information!!

Hello @ramacs ,

Thank you for sharing with us, as I can see your post looks like you are writing to share a post related to the Connect Live Application.

For that reason, I am going to move it to the Local Stories topic because this is one of our selection criteria.

In addition to that, you can find everything you need to know about writing a post for Connect Live 2019 here.

Thanks @AngieYC
