You know that feeling you get when you help someone and the help is actually appreciated?
That’s what I got when I started with local guides, so that inspired me to continue my contribution to the program.
For everyone that visits Vienna, friends, friends of friends or family members, everybody will call me to show them around. I have a good orientation memory, so I don’t forget where the cool jams are and how to find them by bus, train or just walking.
Basically I was a local guide long before I joined the program. When I found out about the program, it gave me the feeling that I am showing around people.
After adding a photo to google maps of a bus station that helped many people and is still helping, I felt that I could do more. So I started looking for things I could add to make people’s lives easier to find what they need.
The program means help and connection to me, adding images reviewing locations and being a part of a community that is valued is important to me, and should be for everyone.
The feedback that google provides for me is also very nice to have, when I get a notification that my photo have been seen by so many people I get this warm feeling that I did something for the world, if this is nothing then I don’t know what is.
