I am Bernard from Seoul, Republic of Korea.
I love traveling, so I traveled around the world whenever I have free time.
My first job was an engineer. Unfortunately the disadvantage of the engineers is very lack of free time.
This was a very painful thing for me.
That’s why I quit my career as an engineer 5 years ago.
Now I am working as a freelance travel guide, mainly in Japan.

It was 4 years ago that I got to know Google Local Guides by chance.
At that time, I took pictures while traveling in Koh Samui, Thailand
And then, I got a badge notification asking if I would like to post my photos on Google maps.
So I posted them. That was the start.
After that, whenever I posted my photos on Google Maps, I just wanted to keep my travel memories for a long time.
However, every time I posted my photos on Google maps, Google sent me regular reminders that they were helping many people a lot.
I felt so happy that photos based on my experiences and memories helped others.
This motivated me actively involved in Google Local Guides.
At the beginning, I posted photo information about the landscape, food, and hotel of new places or places where I first visited.
Gradually, I expanded my scope of local guide activities through Reviews, Q&A, fact verification, information updates on places, and correcting wrong information.
As a result, I became a Level 8 local guide in October 2019.
Definitely, the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide is helping people based on my memories and experiences.
I have posted over 2000 photos so far and they already have over 3.1 million views in total
Also I have posted more than 110 reviews, and they got over 49000 views in total.
Most popular photo at this moment is the picture of the sculpture “PUMPKIN” by Yayoi Kusama, at the Fukuoka City Museum of Art. This photo is already gaining popularity with over 1,050,000 views.
I can say that my photos and reviews are quite useful.
Now I am focusing on making my photos and reviews more detailed and practical for helping more people.
I appreciate Google from the bottom of my heart.
Because Google is providing me a great platform which I can help people all over the world with information based on my experiences and memories.
I am going to continue to travel around the world.
And I would like to do my best as a local guide in order to be able to help a lot of people.
