Hey, I am Arjun from Thrissur, Kerala

This is my first post on LGP.

I just wanted to share with all of you guys of a thought that i had for the community.

For a long time i have been doing this voluntary activity of collecting food from few houses that i know which cooks food to be distributed for people who live in the streets.

We have a small voluntary team who are given weekly timetable to collect food from these pre-decided houses and gather the food ( 10-15 packets of food everyday) and we would go in a motorcycle and give the food to people in Swaraj Round, Thrissur.

But in the last few months i wanted to make sure some people get inspired from my activities and join me for finding out volunteers, collecting the food and make sure that the people are never left to be hungry and helpless.

I have been doing it for a lot of years.

I started for delivering it in my cycle at the age of around 15 and still i go around on scooter on every monday Night to deliver these food in Swaraj Round , Thrissur

(no charges are collected from anyone for any of these , there is only the fuel expense, which i had been taking on by myself)

Can someone join this conversation and help me how i can inspire the community in providing to the helpless

Hey @ARJUNRAGHUNANDANAN !!! I love that you are doing this in your community. It’s very inspiring. I recently created a list on Google Maps with all of the food banks in my city. Are there similar places in India where the poor can get food? Here’s my list: https://goo.gl/maps/881UtfLy5P3afcDn9. I am actually about to walk over to the local public library and deliver food for some of my homeless neighbors. WAY TO GO, @ARJUNRAGHUNANDANAN !

I checked out your list,

It’s actually pretty amazing i didn’t actually know of such options.

and also i haven’t seen any places in my locality which runs as a food bank as much as those which are in your list.

As of now, since the past 5 years or so, we have a feq collection of houses which cook homely food and cooks for 1 or 2 extra people so that they can pack it and provide to us.

We youth, are assigned days of week on which we have to collect these food (mine is on Mondays every week)

I Really enjoy getting around the city without anyone actually knowing what I’m really doing.

I always do it for my satisfaction.
