Hi guys, I hope you are safe wherever you are. Please stay safe.
Yesterday, we drove around town in search of facemask for an elderly lady. After visiting six stores (pharmacy, drug store, supermarkets), we failed to find any. My friend and I ended up at a palmwine bar where we eneded our day.
Today, I was on twitter when some fellow citizens started sharing price tags of hand sanitizers they bought from various shops. There was this pain of being cheated at a time people should be considerate. Some others started mentioning places they bought cheaper sanitizers and someone shared how he made some at home.
Immediately, I remembered that we could create a list and share. So I created three lists for Abuja, Lagos and Imo - States that I am conversant with to help citizens find places to buy inexpensive hand sanitizers and other essentials. I suggest you do same in your cities to help others save time, energy and money.
What a wonderful idea. I was just thinking about how I could continue to contribute even as we are “locked down” and not able to get out and about. Nice work!
Very helpful way to assist the community during a time like this - I think it would cool if the Google Maps team worked w/ Local Guides to source helpful lists such as these to surface somehow during this pandemic. I agree, though, @EmekaUlor - very sad to see some take advantage (in a bad way) of critical times like these. Fantastic work, Emeka.
Awesome work, @EmekaUlor . I noticed the lists are all quite detailed which is helpful.
@SP31 Interesting you pointed about how LGs can work with Maps teams. I created a Nairobi 24hr Chemist list hoping it would come in handy right before Kenya setup a 7pm-5am curfew.
