I have been contributing to google maps since january it was a nice distraction while I was abstaining from social media (7 months free now of facebook yeah!!!). My account is through my g suite domain. In the last 6 months I have managed to reach level 7, acquire over 50,000 review views and over 5,000,000 photo views, I don’t know how, but thats what happened.
Today
So recently I have set up as a freelance artist and community story work practitioner and acquired a new domain which came with a new g suite. So I busied about setting everything up, transferring folders between g suite and all that long winded nonsense that goes with it. Then I get to Google Maps…sigh…
so as i understand I am not able to transfer the ownership of my google maps connect account to be managed under my new domain and gsuite despite the present account being me and the new account well, still being me, I cannot access the app to change my primary email. In fact I have no control over my own app or the ownership of my own data. In 3 months time my original domain will expire along with the validity of its email and I am not planning to renew it.
What then happens to my google maps app once my original email (the only one the app will allow) ends, is no longer with us, is pushing up daisies?
Will I then find I am no longer able to access my Maps, to be honest if this is the case I will give up the will to live with maps as there is no way I am going to catch back up with myself
is it me? may be i’m a wee bit on the fluffy headed side but google products are simple to use and ridiculously complicated to change anything about my goodness, just the palava to change a profile icon meant having to log into multiple things and a few youtube searches for answers
Any help, advice would be greatly and warmly appreciated
if the answer is no Kane your going to loose absolutely everything then i think this grown man will cry
@KaneDodgson Oh dear Kane I truly sympathise with your plight. I also learnt a new word from you. Palava. And I think it does describe how complex the back end (or mid end?) can be as compared to the front end. My understanding of the rules is that you can only have one email account associated with the local guides account. I have no knowledge of how g suite works though so not sure how that rule would apply. Yes we humans know you are one and the same person but I think their algorithms haven’t caught on yet … I hope there’ll be a good outcome for your little pickle once a Googler sees this post to advice you. While I have no good news or answers for you, just wanted to reach out to let you know that you are not alone in experiencing frustrations and unforseen ramifications.
Well done by the way for your fantastic achievements! I’m celebrating with you now for your achievement which might just disappear into nether space. But if such should happen, I’d encourage you to dust yourself down after a good cry and do it all over again. Because level 5s get an invite to submit applications to join a Google paid trip for a yearly conference (called Connect Live). Only a select number get chosen each year. If you missed out on the invite this year, there’s always next year. So don’t give up yet.
thank you unfortunately its just not going to happen so all that work, viral views etc will all disappear in December and i will be at ground zero again, to be honest, my motivation to work for free for a product that doesn’t let me keep the megre benefits from it just has completely demotivated me I think it may be better to move over to Trip Advisor at least they let you keep control off your virtual space, thanks for the reply on this, much appreciated

I will take a breath and decide on what to do in a few weeks, thank you for your very kind and compassioonate post. Palava its a great word isn’t it we use it a lot in the part of England were I live
