Help needed! Not able to post reviews anymore

Hi,

I’m getting an error when I try to write a review on a Google place. The error is: ‘An error happened. Please try again later.’

I’ve tried to write reviews on several different businesses. I get the same error for each of them. I’ve never been able to write a review.

I’ve tried:

  1. Closing all other browsers.

  2. Different browsers and other devices (phones/laptops)

  3. Clearing browser cache and cookies.

  4. Signing out and back in (on all devices). Restarting.

  5. Private windows

Any other ideas would be much appreciated. I’ve spent hours on this and would really like to post some reviews!

I have been getting an error message saying, “We’re having trouble publishing your rating/review. Please try again later.” every time I try to post a review with photos. My star rating gets posted but not my review text or photos. This has been going on for several weeks now.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I have a few questions to better understand the situation.

  1. When you’re on the computer, what OS are you using?

  2. When you’re using a phone, what device and OS? Can you also let us know what version of Google Maps you’re using?

  3. Can you try adding photos or doing other contributions?

  4. I want to clarify, you indicated that you have never been able to write a review. Can you confirm that this was never possible and that all of your contributions are other types of contributions? If so, what kind of contributions are they?

  5. Do you know how long this problem has been happening?

Stuart is on iPhone and has tried to uninstall and reinstall Maps again with the same issue.

  3. Well, I am able to put stars on the review, though when adding text to the review or adding photos it is giving the error message ‘something went wrong, please try again or later’.

  4. I did already 150 reviews, same kind of contributions and this was never a problem until now.

  5. This problem only popped up since a few days ago. Last Saturday I posted a review successfully.

I realize your questions were directed towards the other person but I thought I would reply as well.

  1. I have not tried on a computer. It is kind of a pain to transfer photos to a computer to post. I have been using my iphone XS iOS 12.1.4.

  2. iPhone XS iOS 12.1.4. I just deleted my app and re-downloaded so it has to be the most up to date version of Google Maps.

  3. I will occasionally be able to post one or two photos at a time. Occasionally I can post review text. About a 10% success rate I would say.

  4. I have posted hundreds of reviews and thousands of pictures (hit 1,000,000 views this week!).

  5. I started having this problem probably last Wednesday or Tuesday I think.

Hello! Since I restored my iphone 3 weeks ago I can’t review even a single place on Maps… Everytime it gives me the same message: ‘Your Google Account is missing your name. To continue, take 10 seconds to add your name’. The thing is that I do have a name, and what’s even worse is that I can’t review on my Mac too… Any help appreciated!

Similar reports have come up for other iPhone users.

Can you verify that you have the latest version of Google Maps on your phone?

Yes, I have the latest version of Google Maps on my iphone, and the latest version of Google Chrome on my MacBook Pro. I want to mention that I tried with different browsers but the same. I found quite a few topics on the internet about this problem wich persists for years now, and there is no universal sollution. :frowning: I think I tried everything but no help. And I really need to be able to review asap.

@mesarosronel : Can you provide us with some details about the error? What does it say or a screenshot perhaps? Is it still the same error?

@Shirley @Ivi_Ge I am also facing the same issue. Not able to post the review either by mobile(pixel2, android 9.0) and web using my laptop(macbook, macos mojave, firefox

). I have reported the issue as feedback through the mobile app.

This indeed is an unpleasant experience. I would suggest you try the following:

  • Please try deleting the cache and cookies of the browser.
  • The problem might occur if your internet connection speed is not sufficient or if the connection is not stable.
  • Check if you have updated to the last version of Google Maps.

Please try again and let us know, whether you’re issue still persists .
