My top photo has been attracting lots of views and it was of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, as of a few days ago my views were down and I looked and the picture was no longer showing under the museum.
Why would this be?
I have readded it today but am a little frustrated as to why it would just simply be removed.
@Maximust It is usual that the photos are not featured on top forever. The Maps automatically choose photos that it thinks better than the existing ones. It is a process.
I have tried to share but there isn’t a share button on my photo, when I go to the place and click share it literally just wants me to share the place with somebody.
I have tried your guide and followed it but still shows the above.
It is the top photo in my highest views of you can access my profile. I have readded the photo so not sure if that is confusing things as now I’ve added it again the original picture is getting a few minor views again.
@Maximust , In that case, the photo may have been removed by the Maps. Sometimes the AI acts harshly and some of our good contributions may be removed automatically. I ave about 100 photos which are not public which I guess have been removed automatically. In that case, we don’t have anything to do.
However, if many of our contributions have been removed then we can appeal to the team through this form.
It looks like a very good photo. Great light, colors and contrast and no people.
But I did notice a whiter glare near the buildings contrasting the sky. Have you somehow manipulated the sky or done some HDR processing on this image. That might be something the AI algorithm has started to pick up?
Otherwise I don’t see any issues that should warrent a removal.
If your re-upload was unsuccessful that is a clear sign that the AI is not accepting this image.
Thank for the reply @MortenCopenhagen , I did some HDR processing on this. It’s been uploaded for a while now and gained over 800k views, was just surprised why now. It has been accepted as a re-upload , I guess I’ll wait and see if it is removed again.
I think gradual improvements to the AI algorithm can explain why this was not removed earlier.
The lesson we all can learn from this could be that over processing of images is not acceptable as mentioned in the rules. Let me know if you want a link to the relevant rules.
I remember you raised an issue of irregularity in the photo view count in this post. https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Issue-with-views/td-p/2193493
The Van Gogh Museum was featured but was not reflecting in the view count.
I find that issue to be settled now. However, it’s a surprise you did not report the closure of the issue. Reporting closure of an issue enables the community to help better.
Nevertheless, at that time I had noted that photo posted by you resembles almost to one appearing on another website. Did you post it on multiple sites?
