When August of 2018 I have achieved all batches of the master level of google maps such as and about 20,000 points were collected. In that period of time, I were in 8th level. Nearly one month ago I deleted all the photoes which saved in the Google Photoes to expand the storage of the Drive.
Then it was resulted to decrease number of points up to 15000 which I have obtained as well as demoted the batches from Master level to Expert level. Also observed that the added photos to the Google Map was deleted and many changes were happened. But one year ago I did the same thing by deleting the photos in the Google Photos. No any changes occurred during that the process.
So I request your kindly support to overcome these issues and to recover and restore all the batches and points of me. Thank you.
@Miyuru sorry to hear that. A few things that could be useful.
To “clear” your Drive space usage of photos that you have uploaded to Maps or Photos, you don’t really have to delete them.
Go to https://photos.google.com/settings and then select “High Quality” if not already, and click on “Recover Storage”, this will compress all of your uploaded photos to max of 16 MP and videos to 1080p (not reversible). That should reduce your Google Drive storage significantly. May take a few hours.
As far as I know, deleting photos from Google Photos doesn’t remove them from Maps. I just tried it a few minutes ago. An older photo a few weeks ago, already transferred to Google Photos. And I added the photo from the Maps app on my phone, which can be viewed on Google Maps. After a few minutes, I deleted the photo from my Google Photos. The photo is still in Maps.
This is how my current experience of Maps and Google Photos. I can’t say for sure if previously in 2018 is different though.
You can try to recover the photos from your Google Photos, menu, Trash. See if you can find the photos you deleted and restore them to see if that helps.
Also tagging a Google Moderator @KlaudiyaG , if there was anything about deleting photos from Google Photos affecting Maps? Maybe there could be some other issue and Klaudiya can have someone look into your account.
Sometimes, points do fluctuate, though generally return to normal within a week. As @StephenAbraham mentioned, deleting photos from your Google Photos profile won’t affect your Google Maps’s contributions. If you’re sure that your contributions haven’t violated any of our policies, I kindly ask you to help us better understand your issue by answering the following questions:
Where are you seeing a loss of points; desktop and/or in the Google Maps app? (Please check both maps.google.com and the Google Maps app if you have access to both)
Are you sure the major point drop that you are experiencing is because of the photos deletions?
Did any of the pictures that you deleted from Google Photos actually disappeared from your Google Maps profile?
Yes. After few minutes I checked the points and decreased it.
03.Yes. I think about 200 photos no show in my Google map profile and places of the map.
I can’t believe it. I really disappointed. But I love to Google map. Because it help me lots of time in my day-to-day life and whatever I trying to add photos again.
Thank you so much for your reply. Your issue has been raised to a higher level team that will review your case. Please note that I’m going to reach back to you, when I have any news on this matter.
