Help: Local business owner having issues w/ multiple markers on Maps

So a local Motorcycle dealership has a “Primary” (and largely correct) location marker on Google maps.

He also has a second maps location marker for his service department (which is incorrect, and he wants to make go away).

He Also now apparently has a suzuki Auto Dealership tag (also very incorrect).

I’ve attempted to merge the profiles (Refused - no reason given) and edit the profiles (MOSTLY successful).

Is there anyone at Maps.Google.com out there I can reach out to who can take a look at this?

Thanks

Kaufkin

Been doing this for years, first time here…

Hi @Kaufkin

Thanks for asking. This forum is for the volunteer local guides only. Business owners have their own help pages and forum.

Here is the GBP help center and you find the GBP forum here.

Cheers

There is a very simple thing to do, @Kaufkin : Inform the Business about Google My business Profile

The owner can claim the businesses, and merge / remove them if duplicated.

Actually it is possible to claim and manage a business directly from the Google Maps App

@MortenCopenhagen I’m a local guide, and not affiliated with the business in any way. (except as a customer).

I’ll pass the links along.

@ErmesT I’ve suggested both, and apparently it’s “Pending” and has been for a while.

… and in the mean time, his business seems to be changing somewhat randomly, and adding random changes…

Merging businesses is not very simple @Kaufkin , if you do not follow the correct procedure.

Sharing the links of the three POIs will help us to better address you, otherwise you will receive only “generic” answers.

@ErmesT

as I indicated, I’ve been (and enjoyed) being a Local guide for a while. as far as this group goes, I’m a complete Newb, so forgive me if I’m just learning. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is the Correct profile (it SHOULD be labeled “Motorsports International”)

https://goo.gl/maps/TT8ACzCk8XCrX9ku8

This is incorrect, and should be merged / removed.

as far as I know, the owner is in process of claiming both businesses. (as I said, he indicated it’s pending - I’m unclear on details)

Yamaha - again, should be merged into main profile. (EDIT: just noticed this is listed as a “Castle” - LOL)

Car Dealership?? completely wrong - Suzuki Motorcycles? sure. Cars? Nope.

Hope this helps…

@ErmesT I put in a request earlier this morning to change the Service profile (2nd link above) from Auto Dealership to Motorcycle Dealer, which was approved just a few minutes ago. I’m assuming the Auto Dealership status was what caused the Suzuki flag.

K

Someone made a big mess in there, @Kaufkin , and there is no way for you to fix it / merge businesses.

Your first link is not a business, but simply a Location (address). What maps shows is that at that address there are two businesses

The two businesses are located one inside the other, even if both have the same contact details and website

Suzuki is an address too, no way to edit that place, even if it appear as a car dealers

The “castle” seems to be spam

My suggestion is to report the issue with the links to the Google Maps help community, for them to escalate it to the Google Maps team

that’s what I was afraid of.

(EDIT: Done, and owner contacted and provided with link to the request.)

Thanks @ErmesT

Hello @Kaufkin

Here are the only two possible listings in that business area.

  1. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Motorsports+International/@42.1930874,-71.8248761,21z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89e404c3b78fde75:0x978decb086fc0647!8m2!3d42.1930265!4d-71.8248578
  2. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Motorsports/@42.1929777,-71.8249304,20z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89e404c25c219f21:0xe89dd02dc25ce8d3!8m2!3d42.1929804!4d-71.8249565

I am unable to locate any other listing or polygon in that area (might have been removed). Could you please reverify and copy the link directly from the maps?

In other words, forgot the links you shared, click on the listing / polygon and share links here.

For these two listings, the merging process could be lengthy but trying via the maps would be best. Via the GMB it will take more effort.

Keep us posted

@deepakjhic listing number two is in error, enlisting number one in your post is the correct one, and should be maintained.

Edit: I just double checked, it appears the Suzuki listing was removed, but the Yamaha and parts department pins are still there, and are incorrect.

As suggested please mark it as a duplicate via the app and sit back.

Once you/the owner receive the mail we are looking into it and pending in email. It will be fixed in 5 to 10 days.

@Kaufkin

I have marked it as duplicate several times in the past, and it has been rejected as an edit, but I will do so again.

Thanks @deepakjhic !

Hello @Kaufkin

Please hold the mail you’ll receive post this edit and ping me back after 15 days if no luck.

Since the second duplicate listing has 4 reviews, I’ll try to get this modified from the maps team.

Good day!

Hello @Kaufkin ,

I was randomly browsing in the forum and found your post there. Please avoid creating posts until I declare it from here. That is not the best location for your post. As of now, I have moved it from maps to business profile sections.

Keep me posted once you get the update as mentioned. Also, you are just copying the old links to Yamaha and Suzuki. Please note that there is no polygon/listing like them in that area. If you really want to help the owner then focus on the listings that are visible post zooming till last.

See you

@deepakjhic I did admit to being a complete newb to the forum. thanks for keeping me honest. :slightly_smiling_face: no clue how I posted the 2nd post. perhaps I did 2 at the same time without knowing it?? I’ll try not to thrash about randomly in the future.

it looks like the yamaha and suzuki pins (tags??) got recently removed since I posted the original message.

no reply to the duplicate request.

the owner now controls both business profiles, but is holding off on any further action until this latest request settles out.

Thanks again!

Hello @Kaufkin ,

The problem has been solved totally. I just checked and found that both the listings are merged together and all the 4 reviews are transferred to second one.

Now there is only one listing available.

@deepakjhic Huzzah!

Thanks all for the help!
