Love they say is a beautiful thing - that’s my Local guide experience in the clean and green city of Calabar, where I love to review local businesses because I have failed in business in the past due to low online visibility.
I started my local guides journey in 2013, left it for a while and later picked it up again, this time, with a drive to help give visibility to many local businesses in Calabar by listing them on Google maps.
The reason I am passionate about adding local businesses in Calabar to Google maps is because I have personally struggled in business in the past because of not having my business visible online and thereby losing out on the exposure and sales opportunities that exist online. So noticing that not many of them were listed on maps, I decided to galvanize the change.
So I would take photowalks through major business routes , taking photos, answering questions about accessibility and kids, and writing reviews about the businesses in my lovely city. Calabar is Nigeria’s choice Tourism destination with hotels, fast food restaurants, conference centers and Tourism sites.
Today, I’m glad to have provided over 2,000 answers, added over 800 photos, and have moved to become a Google Trusted Photographer with over 50 approved 360° photos of Calabar.
Having contributed my qouta to helping a lot of businesses in Calabar gain visibility so far, I’m hopeful that coming to Connect Live 2019 will afford me the opportunity to meet with other guides, share and learn from other’s inspirational stories and explore the world of maps right from the heart of Google campus.
I’m hopeful that I’ll come back to Calabar, more fired up to pour my love on the city more through the lenses of not just my Google Pixel, but that of my Connect Live 2019 experience. I
