I work at FedEx and am frequently at the Orlando ramp here: https://goo.gl/maps/8aDs7VF46qdzprFn8. As can be easily seen from the satellite, the area marked as 105th St and part of Nilson Ave is actually the gated parking lot. It is not accessible to the public or even to most employees. This incorrectly directs traffic from Tradeport Dr eastbound to turn right at 104 and enter the gate at 105th. Bypassing that directs traffic to turn on Post Office Blvd and then right to Nilson to enter the other gated area. The correct instruction is to continue on Post Office Blvd and enter the parking lot by the pinned Ship Center, which is also the entrance to the employee parking lot. While most employees are familiar enough to ignore Google’s incorrect directions, customers trying to reach the ship center and Uber drivers picking up at the ramp, for example, frequently find themselves staring at a locked, unmanned gate, wondering where to go next. I think changing the gated area from a public road to a private parking lot road would solve the issue. I’ve tried multiple times to submit this request, and it’s always marked as not able to be verified. Is there a better way to submit it so that it gets the attention it needs to be fixed?
Do you have any thoughts on this one @Flash ?

Hi @TedAnderson ,
Thanks for sharing with us! : ]
I will take a look at the the matter (much appreciated also for the different examples!)
Just to be sure, I have also conducted a quick test, by checking for a route from Tradeport Drive to Nilson Avenue, the correct one should be the first option, instead of the second one (going through 105th St), correct?
Do feel free to correct my thoughts on the matter.
@sonnyNg Thanks for another reply. Obviously I just discovered this forum yesterday and decided to unload all the problems I’ve been having for years
I think you’ve got the right idea with the light blue portion being marked private and having the name removed. As for getting to the ship center, the route required is what I’ve highlighted. As far as I can tell, no vehicles other than delivery trucks should ever be on 104th or Nilson, and those drivers already generally know where they’re going. Customers accessing the ship center and employees accessing the parking lot need to continue on post office blvd and enter where I’ve indicated. It probably would help to draw a parking lot road there, too, as that would provide a closer route to the pin. I used to know how to do that years ago, but I don’t think the general public can directly add roads any more. Feel free to correct me if I can add the parking lot road myself. Thanks again for the many quick replies!
Hello @TedAnderson ,
There’s two different issues going on here.
First, the naming of the road(s) as 104th Street, 105th Street and Nilson Avenue is incorrect. Those are all unnamed private driveways.
Secondly, the driveway hasn’t been marked as private so that it isn’t used in directions.
To fix this please use the Feedback system within Maps. I’ll give the directions for desktop Maps, you might have to modify the beginning if you’re using a mobile device; I always use desktop for complex edits.
- Click Send feedback in the lower right of the map
- Choose Wrong information
- Click in the middle of what is current labelled as 105th St
- “105th Street” will appear in the top left, click on it
- Choose Other
- Add a note to this effect “The roads named 104th Street, 105th Street and Nilson Avenue are all incorrect names. This is an unnamed business driveway with gates on either end. Please remove all three names and then make the entire length Private. As a note, Nilson Avenue is the short road at https://goo.gl/maps/onJDZpxhdZrmwbVz5.”
You mention you just discovered this forum. As an FYI, this forum is more about the Local Guide program, whereas help with map issues is more centred on the Maps Community at https://support.google.com/maps/community.
Thank you @PaulPavlinovich for flagging me.
@Flash Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I’ve submitted this error multiple times over the last few years. No matter what correction I submit, it’s marked unable to be verified. There’s no option to appeal the denial or submit more information. It seemed like some users were having success highlighting their issues here, which is why I’ve posted some of my lingering errors that keep getting “not applied, not verified” no matter how much detailed information I give with the error report.
Thanks also for pointing me to the correct forum. I wound up here by searching Google for the not applied message I received, and several topics here were at the top of the list. That made me erroneously think this was the best place to post.
Hi @TedAnderson ,
Did you use the exact method I outlined? I ask because this method has not been available the entire time period to which you refer, and also because until it was available there was no way to indicate that a name should be completely removed or that a road should be marked as private. The option I’ve suggested using gets the information directly to a human within the road editing department. This is one of the few times when the public is able to directly communicate issues to a human. Using an option to make a different edit and shoving an edit into it is just going to end up with a denied edit.
I’ll have to double check. I quickly scrolled through my contributions and see that I last sent an error report in Jan 2019, but I sent it as a “road closed.” Since I can’t easily search my contributions, it’s not easy to find every time I’ve tried to send this particular correction.
EDIT: I just submitted another correction exactly as you described. In fact, I copied and pasted your text, as well as a link to this discussion. I’ll report back if I get any feedback, and then I’ll move to the correct forum for future issues.
Sounds great. That forum can always provide even more detailed help for Maps issues, so if my suggestions don’t fix it within a couple of weeks then please do post this over there.
I’ve been busy and just got around to checking. Once again this edit was NOT APPLIED. I asked the question in the Maps Community here: https://support.google.com/maps/thread/62841202?hl=en. Thanks for helping.
I’m following up a year later. As I reported in August 2020, my attempt to correct the errors using the exact wording given and including a link to this discussion resulted in yet another “NOT APPLIED: Google couldn’t verify your information.” I posted in the Google Map Community and received no reply. That thread is now locked for lack of responses. I feel like map editing has been consolidated to such a small group (compared to the previous community of which I was a part) that there is no time for obvious but tiny errors such as this one.
