Help! All my Lists in progress have been deleted

Hi Moderators, @PaulPavlinovich

I have had several lists I was working on in Google Maps that were almost at the stage of completion after detailed research and a lot of effort put in.
I tried to go back in to complete one of my lists only to find all my lists in progress are either deleted or I’m unable to find them. I would really appreciate if someone could assist with this.

I’ve also been waiting for my 8000 odd points to be restored that were deleted due to a setting I was not aware about some months back but that has not happened. I posted on the correct topic post for this and noticed many had had their points restored.

I would really appreciate some help with these two things. Thank you very much! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Istillwannahavefun

Regarding points lost due to the auto deletion settings, I’m afraid you are out of luck. Such points can not be restored. I’m sorry. Where did you read this is possible?

Regarding your Unpublished lists, please confirm that you are logged in with the correct / the same Google account. And does the problem exist on more than one platform?

Please, try Clear cache & cookies, if you have not already done so. The link has step-by-step instructions for Android, IOS, and Desktop. Just select the relevant tab at the top.

Also, please log out of your Local Guides account and log back in, and update your Google Maps app if necessary.

Lastly, please only raise one issue per post. This will make it easier for others to find solutions to their problems.

I’ve cleared cached and can locate the lists now - thank you!

Wonderful, @Istillwannahavefun .

The lost points post you referred to is from 2017. Points lost from not having the setting set to never delete can unfortunately not be recovered.

Hi @Istillwannahavefun what is fixed is that turning on activity deletion will not affect your points anymore.

I just checked my lists and both published and draft seem to still be there. Are you running the current version of the Maps App?

Hi @PaulPavlinovich

Thanks for explaining that to me. It’s a bummer that so much that I added is now gone, but I can still work to re-add things.

I cleared all my app cache and I can see my previous lists now as well as two test lists I created.

That is great that the lists are showing up @Istillwannahavefun

You can always check them in a browser in incognito mode by visiting maps.google.com and signing in while in incognito mode - this avoids any cached data as it runs in a fresh sandbox.
