Sir, @MortenCopenhagen
@NareshDarji &
@TusharSuradkar
As a local guide, what should I do to turn on wheelchair accessibility for a place? Actually, I know of a few places that are wheelchair accessible. Please reply and discuss the matter.
Hi @SubhadipHanra
It’s great that you want to edit accessibility info, here’s how:
- Tap on the “About” tab of the POI
- Then tap in the “edit features” option
- Select the available ones in the place or correct the info if it is wrong
- And finally tap on “Submit” button
Hope it helps!
Hi @LaloPadilla
But for some places, there is nothing in the About section. How do I make those places accessible?
Dear,
@LaloPadilla I have a few places that you can help me with? I am sharing the links. These are some of the well-known places in the village.
I still have a good, well-known place that needs accessibility and it could be a small business. These place are accessible
I’m able to edit features for the Crop field as shown here:
I’m not able to edit features for the temples. Maybe @LaloPadilla can suggest how to proceed with this.
Oh Temples are showing “Edit features” in my region.
Are you asking whether temples doesn’t have “Edi features” button in your region? @MortenCopenhagen
Great information, thank you!
Please check the two Hindu temples mentioned in the opening post.
Got it @MortenCopenhagen . Newly added temples or any businesses won’t show “edit features”. It takes times. I also seen newly added businesses getting “edit features” sooner when more photos & reviews are contributing to them.
I also experienced that “edit feature” can seen to a business where user or local guides morely visit.
Thanks @Rahul001.
Does this explains your problem, @SubhadipHanra ?
Sir, @MortenCopenhagen Now that you’ve seen the crop field’s edit feature, will you be able to edit it?And to show the wheelchair icon? And are there any special rules required to show the wheelchair icon? How do you do it?
You didn’t see the edit feature in the two temples because as @Rahul001 said, it’s a new addition and the crop field is also a new addition. But the reason why the edit feature is seen in this case is because it is a business profile, it has high review ratings, and local guides contribute more from both temples.
So are there any special rules? How many review ratings, how many Local Guide reviews, and how old does the place need to be to be added? Most importantly, is the place accessible?
How can I work as a local guide for this wheelchair purpose? Please guide. I am new to this! Give me genuine details!
(Sorry for the long typing
Please clarify this for me)
Dear @SubhadipHanra ,
There’s no specific rules but Google Maps takes information on how many users or local guides visited that business or temple.
I seen and experienced it as “Edit Feature” doesn’t come fully for every feature we seen inside it. It slowly builds up, starting from Accessibility, parking etc.
Please don’t wait for it to contribute. You can still contribute through reviews and photos (don’t forget to add captions of wheelchair Accessible in the captions too).
If a business edited their profile on various features they provide, it can be seen in Google Maps after a day or two.
I’m sorry, I’m not an expert on editing features and accessibility.
Sir, @MortenCopenhagen
Are you saying that it’s Google’s job to show the wheelchair icon? And they show the icon by collecting genuine data through various processes. One of the most trusted of them is Local Guide and their review rating and Local Guide Connect platform. Do you agree with me?
@MortenCopenhagen Do you agree with this post that this is what you need to do as a local guide?
Dear @Rahul001 Are you referring to photo captions for wheelchair accessibility in your reply when rating reviews on Google Maps?
And I can also post on Local Guide Connect.
And Dear @LaloPadilla Thank you. You are also right. I think this is a step 2 process in some places.. What is your opinion?
I’m sorry, I’m not an expert on editing features and accessibility.
Sir, @MortenCopenhagen Can you tell me who is a features and accessibility expert? Or tag him/her please. I think both Dear @Rahul001 and Dear @LaloPadilla are correct here. But according to my question, Rahul could be the solution.
@LaloPadilla is your man.
Your conclusion is right. According to me if you are not able to add Accessibility feature for a particular location, the only option is through reviews @SubhadipHanra . Not only for new Temples even for many old Temples too the Accessibility options are not available. Thanks to @LaloPadilla , @MortenCopenhagen and @Rahul001 , who have explained the Accessibility feature very nicely. Informative discussion.
I have places I’ve visited that don’t require accessibility, but the accessibility icon is showing next to the category. I currently don’t have the place saved, so I can’t share it.
Hi @SubhadipHanra
Sorry I got busy with work, if there are no available accessibility features (maybe because the POI has been recently created) the best you can do is leave a review and some Local Guides including me, we use the wheelchair emoji to indicate those features or the lack of them
extra tip: every time you visit a place check those features, youll be surprised of the amount of places that have this info wrong
If you have more questions about accessibility or you’ll like to share some cool places that include accessibility features feel free to tag me in your posts . There are a lot of LG interested in accessibility that have been featured here with the Accessibility Champion badge we’ll be happy to help!
