Hello World!

Well, probably from the title of my post you have already guessed that I’m a Developer? Good guessing! But today I’m here to talk about something else: my experience on Google Maps!

I remember once I was asked to do a presentation at a company I had recently joined, and in one of the slides about my interests I talked about Google Maps and why it’s one of my top interests in life.

Why do I love Google Maps so much? Here is a summary of what I told my colleagues during that presentation:

“I think everyone should join and contribute to the Google Maps. If there is a bar in the neighborhood that always has smiling bartenders when you visit, that bar should be rewarded – likewise, a restaurant that doesn’t care much for the hygiene or how they treat their customers, should be punished. Best way to do this is by us coming together, sharing our experiences and then picking places based on their ratings and the community’s overall experience – what better place to do that than Google Maps?”

I always let Google Maps to track the places I visit. This way I will never forget to rate a single place. I also understand some people don’t feel comfortable with enabling that option. You can always rate places you visit on the spot and later on add a feedback when you get the time.

One of my favorite parts of Google Maps is the “Questions”. I have answered to over 3K questions in the course of past years. Answering questions on Google Maps is fast and intuitive. It specifically helps the people with disabilities to get more accurate information about the places they wish to visit. So there is no need not to spend a few minutes every day answering some fun questions about the places we already know, right?

There is a lot more on Google Maps and I have many more tips to share with you. Hopefully, in the next posts.

But before I go, I would like to share my latest photo on Google Maps with y’all!

It’s called, Molen Rijn en Zon and is located in Utrecht.

(speaking of Utrecht, Make sure to visit this gorgeous city when you are in The Netherlands)

Happy Google Mapping!
