Hello from Austria - Its all about the data :-)

Hello everyone,

my name is Gabriel, a local guide from Austria.

I live near Attersee (Lake) in Upper Austria. I already started sharing Photos, adding companies, checking opening hours and answering questions to accessibility on google maps some time ago.

For me, data are very important. Also, I think, wrong data is worse than no data. I always expect that the information you will find on the internet or on google map must be correct, so everyone who use maps should have an eye on the data. It is very important that local guides or trusted people can change data or apply for a change, because small companies or destinations still didn´t realize how important the information online are.

Imagine, you are on your family holiday and you want to visit an ice cream store. After a 30 minute trip with the car, the store is closed because Mr. Ice Cream didn´t update the opening hours. This should not happend.

If you use google maps, you should help keeping them up to date.

What I really like to share with other peoples is if you experienced a positive surprise. It´s a situation what you didn´t expect.

For Example we live close to a Greek restaurant. The restaurant always looks a little bit grubby from outside (because of the building). We often drive past that restaurant but never thought on visiting it.

After a while a colleague tell me about that Greek restaurant and how nice it is in there. I didn´t expect a lot when we decide to go there for a dinner.

We were flashed when we visit that restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and elegant inside. The waiter was very friendly and courteous. The restaurant also has a separate children play area with a glass wall, that parents see the kids and kids see the parents. The food was just delicious. Overall, it was great, nearly perfect. We had never expected that.

These are the positive incidents i really love to share.

Best regards

Gabriel
