Healthy Options and a Fun Time Out

Hi Everyone!

This post is definitely going to have a significant meaning for me as it is my 1st one on Local Guides Connect. It is also being written as an answer to a prompt in an effort to join the 2019 Local Guides Event. Wait, when I think about it, … for me it is definitely more than that. Ever since I became a Local Guide on Google Maps, there hasn’t been a day when I don’t think about it. It is a new hobby and more! I love that it makes me feel like an explorer in my own area and that I have things to share with others! Since I’m still fairly new to Google Maps, I feel that every baby step I take brings me closer to completing a puzzle of the world I too am a part of. It’s amazing how interconnected everything is!

I love sharing reviews and photos of places, be it of restaurants or (grocery) shops, that provide healthy choices for the customer in an atmosphere that children can enjoy. My workday is very long and as a working mother of two fairly young children, I try to spend as much time with them as possible. We are a dynamic family who love spending time outside. However, we are also quite health conscious and I know that I don’t want to have a high-calorie blended drink when it comes to my cup of coffee and I don’t crave for food full of chemicals and preservatives (with respect to anyone who does - this is just a personal preference). I realize that everything I eat and drink constitutes, well, all of me. That makes me think twice.

I know there are many mothers out there searching for a nice play area with the hope of finding a lovely cafe nearby where they can rest for a few minutes (with that desired latte, cappuccino, or a good cup of tea ;). Vice versa, families also search for a child-friendly place to eat with healthy choices in the menu - also for the children. My kids and I love grocery shopping, but there were times when we were not sure where to get those flaxseeds, coconut oil, or quinoa - ingredients that are not found in every grocery shop.

I love that I can help someone with my experiences of places. Now that I have taken yet another step and have written my first post, I hope to write a lot more on various topics of interest.

Hello @Bea-K ,

If you’re applying to Connect Live be sure to share a link to a new Connect post responding to this year’s application prompt. You can find everything you need to know about writing a post for Connect Live 2019 here.

As you mention that this is your application post, I have relabelled it to Local Stories to stick within the guidelines.

Thank you so much!
