Hawa mahal is a palace in the city of Jaipur, which is built of pink and red sandstone. Due to its architectural beauty, it acts as the symbol of Jaipur (Rajasthan, India). Jaipur is also known as Pink City. The name come from this mahal only. It is a 5 floored mahal built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The height of the mahal is 15m. Another specialty of the building is that it contain 953 small windows in total. Presently, Hawa mahal is maintained by archeological department of Government of Rajasthan.
