Have you ever used an electrical car? Travelling green.

I have been living in the UK for many years, but I’m amazed how in the last 3 years, electric cars are taking the streets.

I’m a proud owner of an hybrid car, uses petrol and produces electricity which is used by the engine to take me around. But my next step it will be an electric car.

Three years ago, it was difficult to see electric cars charging points, despite the government has been giving incentives to add them at home and commercial places, but now, guess what, THEY ARE EVERY WHERE!

You can find them at many services stations, specially at motorways: (sorry about the pics orientation, but the system does not let me change it, i have tried even saving them in diferent rotation)

Even at Supermarkets. Asda supermarkets has electric car charging points nearly at every store, well done guys

There are a number of great benefits to electric vehicles (EVs) over conventional petrol/diesel cars.

  • Cheaper to run. Owners of an EV have the advantage of much lower running costs. …
  • Cheaper to maintain. …
  • Other savings. …
  • Better for the environment.
  • Health benefits. …
  • Safety improvements. …
  • Our energy security.

Electric cars are better for the air we breathe. Since electric cars have zero tailpipe emissions, we can look forward to cleaner air when there are more electric cars on the road. … In addition, fewer greenhouse gas emissions will save the ozone layer and reduce our carbon footprint.

I hope you get interested trying an electric car after this post.

Hugs, Johnny

I support you, especially about environment pollution!

But problem is widely. Electric cars use clean electricity. But where from electricity produced? Power plants emits pollution. Sun and wind power plants are too weak.

We should develop Nuclear fission and perspective nuclear fusion energy. Now Europe prohibited nuclear plants more and more. I think it’s dead-end.

You say: nuclear plants are dangerous? Yes. But with every mistake we learning.

I have never used an electric car. This is almost non existent in Cape Town. We have a few hybrids, but that is it. I know that th r e are electric motor bikes available, but no charging points at public places as far as I know. I support a green earth. Hopefully this will come soon to Cape Town

@Makarov_Oleg , in England we have wind and solar panel farms to produce electricity. In fact, at home I have solar panels and the electricity that I don’t use, it’s sold back to the grid (generating a good income to me and the big satisfaction of my small positive contribution to the nature).

Being near the sea, the wind is stronger, and it has been proved that the wind turbins farms added in the coast line inside the water protect the sea fauna due the difficult to the boats to fish around then. Natural oasis for aquatic life. Sadly, the turbines can kill birds, but nothing is perfect.

Not very fan of nuclear when we can exploid renovable clean options.

@Tony_Cape-Town I love Cape Town, and the big oysters I have eated there.

Cape Town is a new city, developing very quick, I’m sure something can be done, and Sunlight is everywhere, solar panels will do a good to the electric greed.

I have been reading also in the news the water problem your city has been copoing recently. Sorry about that.

Hi Johnny11, I agree that Cape Town is an amazing place to live in. Many Capetonians have a similar desire, to help live in a green planet. You’re right, we have enough sun for solar energy and a strong wind for wind power. Technology will still come. The watercrisis is almost something of the past, but we are implementing water saving as a part of life now. Thank you for your kind memories of my home town. All the best. I hope we make it for the big meet up In USA, then maybe we can say hi in person.

Wind or Solar power are good for private use. But industry spends millions kW. For instance how mach energy spent to producing aluminium and cooper for your wind turbine?

I agree, wind and solar energy helps to save energy. But it can’t resolve Global problem due industry develops more and more and needs more and more energy.

Anyway, electric car is a big step!
